Amid the deepening conflict between the two countries due to Japan’s exclusion of white countries in Korea, attention is being paid to drawing up measures to reduce the dependence on imports of industrial materials.

This is because if the situation does not reduce the dependence on industrial materials, there is room for further damage from economic retaliation at any time, and if sanctions are prolonged, it will pose a major threat to the national economy as well as businesses.

The cosmetics and bio industries, which are the main industries in North Chungcheong Province, are also highly dependent on foreign materials. In particular, tensions in the field are being created as a considerable amount of raw materials are being imported from Japan. In response, the government is coming up with a plan to expand R&D support for basic cosmetics materials as a way to prevent further damage.

Among them, CoSeedBioPharm Co., Ltd., located in North Chungcheong Province, is the only company in North Chungcheong Province that can evaluate efficacy and develop materials for functional cosmetics certification at the same time.

In response, the Dong-A Newpaper will report on the past achievements of Cosmetics BioPharm Co., Ltd. to publicize the possibility of localization of cosmetics materials and the added value of Korean materials to convey the excellence of domestic technology.

CoSeedBioPharm Co., Ltd. started its first business at Jecheon Techno Park in North Chungcheong Province in April 2006. Since then, it has moved to 68 Osong Life Insurance 2-ro, Osong-eup, Heungdeok-gu, Cheongju-si, North Chungcheong Province, in 2014, and has continued its business with roots in North Chungcheong Province.

The company, which started with one employee, has about 50 employees as of 2019, and shows rapid growth through new recruitment every year.

Since its establishment date, the natural materials industry has been established as the main business sector, making natural materials domestic. In particular, research projects are being carried out to utilize specialties in North Chungcheong Province as cosmetics materials.

As a result, it has directly verified the skin efficacy of North Chungcheong products such as Jecheon Hwanggi, Okcheon poison ivy, Jeungpyeong ginseng, Yeongdong walnut, Cheongwon Mature Tomato and Boeun jujube, and has successfully developed cosmetics in Korea, Vietnam, Taiwan, and Thailand.

Currently, it has about 1,000 natural materials in Korea, and has about 60 patents based on them. Through such achievements, CoSeedBioPharm is taking the lead in promoting our technology and informing the world of the excellence of special products.

In particular, snails, which are copepods, have successfully developed mucus filtration through research after confirming that they secrete property fluid to heal wounds.

The first snail mucus filtrate developed in Korea currently accounts for about 70% of the domestic market and was honored with the 2017 Material and Parts Industry Prime Minister Award in recognition of its great achievements in developing new materials.

In addition, it was selected as a women-friendly company certified by Cheongju City in 2018, a youth-friendly small company certified by the Ministry of Labor in 2019, and proved to be a company with workers.

Currently, cosmetics materials using homegrown materials in Korea, North Chungcheong Province, and Jeju Province are being researched to develop materials that can be used for products such as fine dust and hair loss improvement.

CoSeedBioPharm, which started exporting about 2 million won in 2015, was awarded the $1 million export tower in 2018 last year, and 16 companies in 13 countries around the world are promoting the export market of cosmetics materials at the same time.

It also plans to establish a second plant of about 4,000 pyeong in Osong Complex 2 in 2020 and dreams of taking a leap forward to achieve 20 percent of the domesticization of the cosmetics material industry.
